Under the hood, the RVR will be powered by a brand new 1.8 litre MIVEC petrol engine with a strong emphasis on fuel economy. However, Mitsubishi did not reveal any figures with regards to the RVR's power output, performance or fuel economy.
The RVR will be a compact crossover, measuring around 4300mm long, which is similar to a Toyota Vios, and 200mm longer than the Concept-cX. This is however shorter than other rivals like Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and the BMW X1. Minor changes from the concept car include a squarer nose and a slightly stretched rear end.
Other changes include the omission of the daytime-running LED lights and the third brake light mounted on the rear bumper. The RVR features a toned down design, with the trademark Mitsubishi trapezoidal grille that is surrounded by chrome.
Mitsubishi has yet to announce when it will officially launch the RVR, but it would most likely be at the Detroit or Geneva Motor Show, when it will be almost exactly three years since the concept was showcased. The RVR will be sold globally in Asia, Europe and North America.
