The Straits TImes reported that a motorcyclist skidded about 20m across the road, mounted a pavement and broke through the railing before being thrown off his motorbike and into the canal. His motorcycle dangled precariously between the canal and the railing.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the incident at about 3:00am on Friday. Officers managed to rescue the man from the dry canal using a ladder, a rollgliss which functions like a pulley, and a stretcher.
The motorcyclist, who is in his 30s, suffered toe abrasions and complained of back pain. He was taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
