Porsche Panamera sales reach 22,000 in its first year

Within a year of going on sale, Porsche has sold 22,518 Panameras globally, with about 10% of that, or 2530 cars, in Germany alone. Porsche also revealed a breakdown of how many cars were sold in various cities across the globe, with 890 Panameras shifted in Los Angeles, 760 in New York, 300 in Hong Kong, 233 in Tokyo, 188 in Shanghai, 285 in Dubai and 203 in Moscow.

"Our corporate strategy of value-oriented growth has proven itself to be a successful model: With the Panamera, Porsche has clearly positioned itself with the sportiest automobile in the high-end and luxury-class market and achieves already a 13 per-cent share of its segment today", said Bernhard Maier, Member of the Management Board for Sales and Marketing.

The Panamera is available for sale in five different variants, with the base Panamera and Panamera 4 with a 300bhp V6 engine, the Panamera S and Panamera 4 S with a 400bhp V8, and the top of the range Panamera Turbo which has 500bhp kicking out of its V8 powerplant. The Panamera 4S is the most popular, with 9394 units sold, with the Turbo in second with 6171 cars. The Panamera S follows with 4563, and the recently launched base six-cylinder Panamera is quickly catching up, with 2390 units sold already.
