  • Want to try your hand at drifting?

In the wake of the exciting Formula Drift series held recently in Singapore, fans who are passionate about the showboating sport have remained ardent about trying their hand at it. Now, wait no more

Earlier this month, the inaugural Formula Drift 101 Clinic was organised in order to provide all drifting fans out there with an opportunity to try their hand at the sport themselves. In a bid to depart from the usual spate of driving clinics and such, Binter provided participating members with complete, drift-ready vehicles.

There were four different kinds of rear-wheel driven cars designed to provide variety between models, and giving each participant a clear idea of what to expect from different types of drift car setups. For example, drifting a naturally-aspirated engine versus a powerful, turbocharged setup.

Formula Drift 101 Clinic was split into two sessions - morning and afternoon. Groups were kept small, with a maximum of only nine participants. This ensured that close attention was paid to each student.

Instructors for the clinic were none other than Singaporeans Colin Teo and Ivan Lim, who is going on to represent Singapore in the Formula Drift USA World Series, and also veteran drifting couple, Ariff and Jane Johanis.

Binter together with Goodyear Singapore, will be looking at providing more advanced lessons for participants who excel at these drift clinics. Their eventual goal would be to groom the next generation of Singaporean drifters, in order to garner their participation at professional events, such as Formula Drift.

And to top it all off, participants got a ride in the Team Goodyear Formula Drift Machine, a Toyota Chaser with over 500 bhp at the wheels.
The Formula Drift 101 Clinic is part of a series of upcoming sessions. For more information, email [email protected]
