  • Winning days are gone: Volkswagen Eos faces the axe

Volkswagen's brand design chief has announced that the Eos will be axed due to low demand - a larger four-seater cabrio will jump into the fray instead.

Like the song 'Winning Days' by the Vines, it appears that the Volkswagen Eos' days are numbered.

VW's Head of Brand Design, Klaus Bischoff, said that the Eos will not be prolonged when it comes off the market, citing that retractable hardtops are no longer in demand.

Volkswagen will instead develop a larger soft-top, full size cabriolet which seats four to add to their lineup. Reports suggest that the other reason for the Eos' axe may be due to the fact that all plants are running at full capacity, with no room for the Eos' production.

With its low demand, building a new plant will certainly not make any economical sense to the automaker. Furthermore, they believe that a larger soft top capable of accommodating four people would be more successful than the Eos.

With the Eos facing its inevitable axe, let's just hope the new four-seater cabrio will be a reason to celebrate.
