The majority of public charging stations use AC charging, with output ranging from 3.7kW to 43kW locally. DC chargers have much higher outputs (50kW to 120kW), which allow for much quicker charging times.

Depending on the car's battery capacity, onboard charger and state of charge, AC charging can take between 4 to 8 hours. DC charging is much quicker - typically taking less than an hour to charge a battery to 80%.

Fast charging regularly may decrease battery health slightly more quickly, and should be used for quick top-ups. Cost also matters - AC charging is slower, but cheaper. AC chargers are also much more available across more locations.

For optimum battery health, many manufacturers recommend charging the battery to 80-90% (most cars allow you to set a maximum charge limit).

It varies based on car make and model, but as battery technology continues to improve, you can expect a battery to last over 10 years or 150,000km.

Most EV distributors in Singapore offer warranty on the car's battery, anywhere from 6 to 10 years.

With fewer mechanical moving parts, EVs are cheaper to maintain - no oil to change, no gaskets to replace, even brake wear will take longer.
