Consumer Reviews

Been driving a used Hyundai Getz 1.1M for almost 4 months now. Always been a joy driving it since I mostly drive alone and the pickup is truly awesome, although you cannot compare it to the likes of other powerful continental or Japanese cars. Fuel consumption was at an average of 11-13km/l which was pretty manageable for me and I only pump around once every 10 days.
The things that I do not like are as listed, but that doesn't make the car more unsafe or unpleasant to drive. Not anything that cannot be conquered by having some driving skills and knowledge of the car.

I congratulate myslef for having bought a 1.1M5D Getz twice. Once for owning such a grand budget car. Second for buying it at a time when the COE was at its lowest. The mileage is excellent at 16 kmpl. The interior is spacious and comfortable, but can be made to look better by removing the drab black color.

Been driving 1.4A 5dr Getz for 4 years till today. Engine is still running strong and still no major repairs need. Only problem is during 1st year of driving, my right side headlamp starts to get foggy when i drive in the rain. Issue has been solve FOC by komoco as it's cover by warranty. Engine's quite noisy if rev till 3000rpm. Suspension tends to get super stiff and hard when u carry more than 2 passenger which really case a pain. On 50/50 highway/city, i can achieve a maximum of 13km/litre. So far all my friends who have sat on the rear has no complains on the legroom space. Boot space can be better as it is not as big and wide as other hatchback cars on the market. so far good on you Getz!

i would recommend this hyundai getz to everyone.. i am driving the 1.1 5dr manual... i have modified it.. so far i have only installed the muffler, changed to Simota Cone air filter.... and i also installed the Spoiler...
this car has a very sporty appearance... i have drove it up to Kuala Lumpur quite a number of times.... when i reached Kuala Lumpur, I still has half tank of petrol left... it is pretty spacious... It Also has A Very Gd Pick-up Speed...One Thing I Have A Bad Experiece With Hyundai Getz... Whenever On Humps Or Turning, There Is Always A Sqeaking Suspension Sound

Got the 1.6 variant four years back.
Get a minor engine mod - Drop in Filter, cold air input and power enhancer.
Pick Up is Superb especially from 60km - 100km/h.
Ever shot past a 1.6 civic easily.

For a low budget car, the Getz is great in terms of its reliability. Comaparing with the Picanto, the Getz is definitely more spacious and would allow a full load of passengers to sit quite comfortable.

My second car and no regrets over it. Strong chasis, fuel economical, low maintenance powerful engine for the 1.6L version. The 1.1 and 1.4L seems to be under-powered resulting in higher FC. Plus with it's smaller built, easy for parking.

Best korean car

I've owned a 1.1cc (EB) Getz for almost 2yrs now.Bought brand new during that time. I must say that I've not encountered much problem except gear failed to engage due to manufacturer's fault after 6 mths of owning it. Other than that, no problem. Fuel consumption is excellent even after i've changed to 16" inch sports rims, the difference is not much from stock sports rims. Only spend like what.. $700 per month including installments, insurance, road tax, petrol of 500km+ per mth and season parking. Definitely for single or young family car and from point A to B transport.

It is quite powerful for it engine capacity, I used to take 4 adult passenger surprisingly the performance and power did not seem to reduce drastically
It is a car that brings you from point A to B, I have owned this car for slightly more than a year and have not encountered much problem except:-
1. Battery died 2 days after 1 year
2. Head lamp turn cloudy coming 1 year, replaced under warranty*
3. Air con broke down few times, replace with new compressor under warranty*
4. Air con compressor noisy, agent replaced compressor clutch
5. Suspension noisy when crossing over hump*
6. Gear difficult to engage*
7. Risk of side collision due to lacking of side turning indicator lights. Motorbike or cars on either side are unable to see side indicator lights.*
* Also experience by some Getz owner
For small family with 2 kids, this is the most ideal car. For insurance and 1 year road tax it cost me less than $1100. I set aside $650 monthly to cover my installment, petrol & season parking which in some cases it is sufficient to cover the installment only
KMC staff is also very approachable on any problem with regards to repair or servicing.

Owned and driving the 1.6 5drs version for the past 3 and half years before switching to FIAT Bravo T Jet, I must say it is a nice decent car to drive however, the handling and performance were not very impressive, FC were not impressive also and gave ard avg of 9/L -max 11/L City+HW. Will still recommend to those people were just want a non performance Hatchback.

I drove a Getz for almost 3 years and it was a completely fuss-free experience.
At the time, it was THE cheapest car in Singapore. I got the bare basics model 1.3 Auto 5-door version and it was great! Although utilitarian, it was very comfortable inside. The cool feature was how the seats could tumble forward to create a very large cargo space.
It drove easily - steering was neutral, not that much feedback, but enough to know what was happening at ground level. The ride was firm but not too harsh. Everything worked very well (although one wiring problem at the factory kept blowing out one of my headlights). Although mine was a 1.3 Auto - the first auto I owned - it was quick enough pulling away from lights and overtaking. Going up hill was never an issue and getting up to expressway speed did not take forever.
All in, it was an excellent car for getting around in - pleasant to drive, relatively comfortable, quite versatile, easy to handle and park, fairly cheap to operate.
The newer Getz models are even prettier (and the back end has really stood the test of time). The Getz is still one of the nicest looking budget hatchbacks in town. The 3-door Getz is still one of the best looking hatchbacks ever penned - no matter what the budget. Really great lines!
Should you get one? At the price it now goes at - if that is your budget, - this is a very good car, especially if you are a new driver or if you have only an automatic licence.
The 1.1 Getz has only one real competitor - the Kia Picanto, which is cheaper and just as well made. There are of course, the Chevy Spark, the Kelisa and Chery QQ. Larger capacity Getzs are much cheaper than their Japanese and continental counterparts, so there may not be so much of a choice there.
By the way, since the Getz forms its own racing class, there are plenty of options to er, zhng the car.... ; P

Driving Getz is relatively good and it holds the road surprisingly well. To add, I would say that the handling of this car is well designed. The standard power steering is well-weighted and would surely earn your positive feedbacks.
Nevertheless, you must take note that Getz will not give you a sporty driving experience. It will get you from A to B with the minimum of fuss or excitement.
