Consumer Reviews
Our family also owned this car for eight years and still going strong.
It has been a strong and sturdy car that never leaves us stranded on the road
The car has a few issues with lacking equipment, but car is generally adequate with standards of a budget car of the past decade.
Just sold my Toyota Axio for the reason upgrading to Toyota Wish. Had drove it for nearly 3 years. It is been very good companion with me along the road with smooth engine performance, power is good as comparing the same category car. Pretty comfort with reasonable leg room as well as head room. Overall I will recommend people this car for anyone who would like to consider a reliable performance car with good fuel efficiency.
Drove this car sometime back, had a great experience from one of the most basic car ever. Though it lacks of those new technology features such as traction control and what not, the car basically gives you the comfort and economical expenditure from point A to point B. Sitting position is not bad and passenger seat is more of a 2 adults and 1 teenager kind of space. Handling is good and so is the braking. Leg and head room space is acceptable too.
I've been having this car for aboout 4 years. It's a very comfortable car with one of the best braking system I've seen so far. Moreover I've not had any problem with the car. It's a reliable family car
This is my 2nd review after driving this car for 3 months +. Excellent and no regret are the words to describe. Really a good car to drive. On the highway, if you need theextra power to overtake just step on the accelerator, the car will eagerly move forward very fast. Or best still shift from drive to sports gear to get the better push (can overtake easily). Car feel stable even at 130 speedo with great fuel consumption. I have been achieving at best 17 km/litre or at worst 15km/litre with no mod at all, most of the time driving with eco light on Everything is original exceot for lowered suspension. Loving the ride of my car more & more each day..:) Would definitely recommend to anyone who love to drive safetly with the speed and stability. Way to go...Axio
I have drove this car for 4 years already and it was still very good. The car does not have much prob and worth the buy
Brought a used auto 07 Axio last month. Had been driving this car for almost a month only. Previoulsy was driving Mit Lancer glx 1.6 manual. The pickup for axio can be good if you are willing to step on the accelerator but that would mean more petrol consumption. Overall quite like the feel of the car except for slower pickup but with good fuel consumption. Had been getting around 14-15 km/l.
But I kind of miss my lancer for the smooth pickup (manual) and getting around 13.5 km/l plus can play with the gear. Now driving auto dunno where to put my left hand?? Lancer boot space, back seat leg space also better than axio. For those who like to cheong, please dun buy axio. T
By far the most reliable car so far I have drive. I bought a used Axio last Dec 2010 and have been driving it for 3 months now. So far everything is good including the fuel efficiency. Did some add on like getting the body with a new coat of paint and adding visor and scuff plate. Other then that the rest are as it is. Compare to the Latio which is my previous car feature and space wise it lost out big time. However if you look at the power under the hood it gives out, Axio out weighs Latio many times more. Just a light tap on the gas it moves out without fuss. On the average I clock around 14 - 15km/ l for every tank.
This review is based on my experience with a manual Axio I rented for a week, and as a passenger in an automatic one driven by a friend. Overall, this car is a good buy if you don't mind its lack of features and spartan interior.
The car looks bigger than it actually is, and having heard numerous complaints from friends about the Axio having very poor legroom, especially in the rear seats, I was pleasantly surprised to find that there is in fact sufficient legroom, unless the passengers are particularly tall. In fact, my family didn't find it much smaller or less comfortable to squeeze into compared to an Audi A4 I drove a few days before driving this car.
The interior is rather plain for a car of this era, with big, simple dashboard displays. I was surprised to find that the car comes with a reverse camera but no tachometer! I can't think of many other cars, even budget models, which do not have a tachometer in this day and age. Still, this isn't a big issue as the Axio is a practical family car, not a performance car, and can be driven easily by feel alone.
Being a parallel import, the reverse camera screen comes with Japanese words. Also, the radio channel selection follows the Japanese settings, being 12 behind local ones. For example, if you want the local channels 90.5 or 97.2, you would have to select 78.5 or 85.2 on the radio channel respectively. Apart from these minor details, the controls, knobs and dials on the head unit and air con controls are simple to use.
The car will only start with the clutch pedal depressed. The clutch is light and easy to work. This is a good thing, because the car has a very high and narrow biting point (at least, this was the case with the car allocated to me). If you haven't driven manual for a while, you can be sure of stalling at least once! Once you get used to the biting point, however, the car is very smooth. It does not feel underpowered at all, and will pull ahead strongly at any gear provided you are in the power band at a suitable speed. Only when climbing slopes is a downshift needed to maintain speed. It feels equally at home driving gently and changing up the gears quickly, or dragging the gears longer in spirited driving.
The steering wheel is very light, even at parking speeds. Still, the car feels stable on the highway till 100km/h, an improvement over Japanese budget cars of old!
I have been driving Axio x for more than 3 months. I bought it as used car registered in year 2007. At first look, the car is simple and easy to handle. But there is much room to improve.
I have installed the following:
1) Spoiler (that make the car look a little sporty) (cost $220)
2) Fog light (since mine did not have it) (cost S$180)
3) change to 16 inch sport rim and using performance tyre TOYO proxies T1R 205/50ZR16 87W (Tyre cost S$160x4=S$640 & Rim S$ 650)
4) Decap exhaust (more power)(S$300)
5) Install Coilover (S$ 1550) now my car corner at high speed with confidence
6) Soundproofing (S$1000 plus)
7)ICE (S$ 4000) now my car is more entertaining to drive in
8) change to Hurricane filter (increase air intake more power)
9)install D1 Spec VSD III (now my car accelerator more responsive)
10) last to go for tuning with unichip (S$850)
with the add on less than S$8000, you can convert your car that cost more on the market.
I've used to drive a Daihatsu, Nissan, Hyundai. But Toyota Axio is most reliable, and fuel efficiency is superb after using it for three years.
The car is okay compared to a nissan latio. My brother has been driving it for about 2 years now and i enjoy him sending me to work everyday. The car boot is big and is great to store bulky items.
This car is amazing for city driving, it responses very well to sudden change in acceleration and does cornering well. Can outrun most of the bigger cars in short run. Advantages as it can pull away from a crowded pack of cars on a highway. I have added a 17 inch rims and it affected the FC a little but the car is still as powerful as ever. Love it ! not sure any cars can replace this sensation when I decide to change in future .
I've had it for 3 months and all I can say is that its a very good cruiser and its very fuel efficient. Did minor mods to it like changing the stock air filter to a K&N drop-in, Ultra Racing strut bar, 5 point grounding and an auto-gauge tachometer. Engine is more responsive after the air filter change.
For almost 2 yrs of driving my car, its still good!!
For those shortcoming of my car which it does not have, I had already installed.
Lighting - Boot light, side mirror lights, fog light.
Performance - Strut bar, voltage stabilizers, denso iridium sparkplugs.
New tyres - Michelin with nitrogen gas, still the best, silent and shiok!!
New rims - Magnum light weight rims.
New bumper and reverse sensors (FOC), 1 blind driver bang me from behind.
Interior wrappings...
