Consumer Reviews

Currently driving a year 2008, 2.0L camry. Despite being a car that is more than 7 yrs old, and clocked over 160,000 km. The engine is still running good, smooth and quiet. Avg fuel consumption so far with 70% City and 30% Highway is approx 9km/l with a fairly heavy foot during pick up.

First thing you need to know is that this is not exactly a Camry, in reality its called the Toyota Aurion which has the same platform as a JDM Camry and is marketed in Asia (except Australia) as the Toyota Camry. First impressions are the car looks good and feels good but there is a problem with it.

I've owned Passat, Cefiro, Accord previously and recently purchased a Camry and found this car to be the most satisfying ride ever. Owned this for 3yr + now and like the consistency in performance and hassle free maintainability. No it does not attack like a Porsche or swoon the ladies like a BMW but in its class you can expect an all-rounded quality experience.

I test drove this car and I was surprised with the handling. The exterior looks amazing and interior feels very comfortable.

I collected camry 2.0 on August'09 and after 2 months trial, so many problems come out, especially soundproofing until i must fork out my money to install soundproofing. the ride sucks and the bodyrolling is about the same with altis and vios. probably due to tom yum maker.
Another problem is the fuel consumption, it can go down to 7km/l under normal driving. The worst thing is the service and maintenance at toyota Leng kee as the the main workshop of borneo motor. They seems didn't bother with the quality of service and my car getting worst after i service it. their technician and customer service seems not professional enough to handle my problem.
This will be my last ride on toyota and i will never buy again toyota as i disappointed with the car quality and after sales service.
the reason for me to write this review is to share my problems and opinion that i had with toyota.

Test drove the 2.0L version...dunno if this apples for 2.4L...it's actually a pretty basic car but the number on the roads seems to suggest otherwise.

Test drove the Camry 2.0 and 2.4 recently.
A little apprehensive initially as it was Thai-assembled rather than Japan made.
Pleasantly surprised by the excellent build quality, quiet drive and generous amounts of torque from the engine.A sound choice for a mid-sized family sedan.

Owned an Accord previously. just had it changed to a Camry.

Test drove the new model. Very comfortable seats. Good driving position. Powerful 2.4 l engine. Power comes with ease. Nice transmission with seamless change. Good feel all around the car. Top quality. Cant get better at the price.

Driven 2 generation of Camry. The last JDM version and the current Thai model. Both being 2.4L version hence no issue with sluggish engine performace. Comfortable and spacious even with driver's seat push back. The control feature for the accessories are great. Foot brake needs getting use to for the 1st couple of drives.
What I've driven is in oversea. Hopefully some dealer already have bought them in.

Looks good, but is a lemon.
1. Front suspensions changed 4 times
2. Rear suspensions changed 1 time
3. Steering shaft changed twice
4. Wheel bearings changed once
5. Battery changed once
Problems started around 20,000km, Now reached 39,000km (18 months old) but still unresolved, though under the 5 year warranty. Still testing out the modified suspensions from the agent, and steering shaft still click click click.

Toyota Camry 2.4 is my 3rd saloon. My 1st two were Hyundai Coupe 2.0 and Nissan Cefiro 2.3. Hence, I have a natural tendency to make comparisons with my previous cars.
The car is big and spacious - except for the boot.
The interior is fairly luxurious and well furnished - except driver seat a ted tight.
Compared to cefiro 2.3, this 2.4 engine is noisier and pickup is less powerful.
The navigator and radio are superb! However, the CD player can only play ONE CD (no disc-changer), and it can only play certain CDs and DVDs effectively. It will 'select' out certain (local and foreign) CDs and DVDs and give the sound a muffled tone. I have managed to get the player totally changed at Borneo, but the new device suffers from the same problem. I'll probably resign myself to it cos I can't spend any more time going to the service centre.
The air-con is hardly effective at the weakest setting, so will have to use a minimum of 2nd level.
The headlights are good. The rear mirror with auto-dimmer is fantastic. The reverse camera (and image) is excellent. The auto function of windscreen wiper is impressive.
Wheels are nice. Yes, black is hard to maintain.

My parents and I bought a Camry 2.0 litre and I actually quite like prefer the 2.4 litre because it packed with more features than the 2.0 litre. We used to have a previous model Camry and we believe its a better well-priced executive car.

I have been driving the new Camry for almost a year now and i must say that it is a really good car to drive. Not only is is very steady, sturdy and reliable, it has a good comfortable feeling which is not found in many Japanese cars. Having said that, owning a black car is not easy to maintain but it sure does exudes pride if care is taken to maintain it.
The white coloured one is easier to maintain and gives a good perception that the car is larger than it actually is although black makes the Camry look much fiercer.

Very good performance car and FC is very good also as compare to other 2 litres car.
