This is the one of the few mid size MPVs in the market now. Renault uses the same 1.5 diesel engine across its fleet but I felt it is suited for this mid size MPV. The drive did not felt overly powered as compared Clio. The windscreen is big and you have a clear view ahead, and the car as most of the features you see in other standard cars. Being a diesel engine, the torque is good enough for the car. Like I mentioned in Clio review, Renault's engine is Euro V and you do not need to pour blue addictive like in Citroen and Peugeot makes. Despite being diesel, it is not much noisier. I would have bought this mini MPV if not because I wanted hatchback. Nice car for small family who wants to fetch parents, in-laws and friends occasionally.
If you have apprehensions about a diesel car, try this car. Excellent pickup. Great looks. Feature rich. 17 Inch rims look fantastic.
I wanted an alternative to the very common Wish and hence went to check out a few alternatives. Renault seems really a good bet.
The only reason I did not end up buying this is that the last row was a deal breaker for my needs. Otherwise it is almost perfect....
Drove the car for about 1 month and happy with the car so far.
Fuel consumption is about 16-17km/l.
The engine cluttering is not that loud for the new batch (Euro VI) engines.
I test drive this car yesterday among the various MPVs. According to the sale person, the car I tested was the Euro 6 and only arrived a few hours earlier.
Having driven other diesel car, this car was responsive compared to the others. Interior is simple which I like. Car came with many features that associate with most higher end cars.
Took a spin and find ride quiet and comfortable even with 7 people. I don't like Sun/Moon roof as they are not necessary in our weather but can't change it. Hope the filter can cut off the heat.
Not sure about diesel but as a driver, I didn't feel any different.
Grand Scenic is a wonderful car for my family. Just got my new car in 1st week of Oct 14. Tested the car and love it.
First time driving a Renault. Test drove the Grand Scenic Diesel after i test drove the Wish. Interior space is reasonable, except for the third row, which is reserved for punishment. Put your salesman there if he miss target for the month..lol
Cabin is surprising quiet with the diesel engine running, decent pick up with 2 person in the car, but I am not too optimistic when the car is fully loaded. If you are going on long trips with all 7 seats up, forget about the luggage. And I think can rest assure wouldn't get summon as well, because sure within speed limit.
But if you drive more in the city and needs to run era with human loads, the diesel is the way to go.
As our 8 year old Latio was giving us gearbox problem, decided to look for a new ride. Most important criteria were FC and price. Also wanted something that could carry the occasional bicycle. Did a lot of research and finally narrowed down to a few options. Almost decided on the Astra Sports Tourer until wifey spotted the Renault ad in the papers. After a few test drives, we were hooked. Yes, it's a diesel. You can hear the distinctive clatter outside, but inside the cabin, it is well insulated. We did our maths, even with the diesel tax, it would still be cheaper to maintain with cheaper diesel price at the pump. Booked in Apr and got the COE in Aug. The car has barely reached 5000km during this run-in period, I am already getting between 6.5-7lt per 100km (60% highway, 40% city), which is not far from the claimed 5lt per 100km. So far, other than a weird squishing sound coming from the windows each time I go over humps which the service centre fixed for me, am happy with our new ride.
