Fabia (RS) : The New Road Monster (RoadSter)
Skoda was never a really a brand to think of when it comes to cars for a 21-year old like me. It was not until a month ago when I saw it on the road alongside with a taxi (Sonata) that I saw how a 1.4L engine thrash a 2.0L. on the straight road. The exterior curves together with the classic blueish green paint of car caught my attention on the road. The tough look from the front simply attract passerby's attention. Next think I noticed was its sporty rims which complimented its hatchback looks. The interior of the car needs improvements for the climate controls and steering wheel which looks rather old to me. Perhaps, Skoda might want to change the design of the steering wheel to a sportier look to attract youngsters. Handling wise, I feel not much difference compared to its brother Fabia 1.2L or maybe just a bit better. In terms of space, I have no complains. It may not be as spacious as a any MPVs but it is definitely better than most of its competitors of the same range. Boot space is adequate unless you have many tools to put inside. As a driver, the driving position and suspension was designed for comfort and enjoyment Moving on to engine performance, it justifies every single cent you are paying. First, road tax is cheap. Secondly, the car is very fuel efficient with 179 horses running 16km per litre of petrol it is being fed. Even with a turbocharged engine, the fuel efficiency maintains at a commendable level. I was very amazed by what small capacity engines can do nowadays after riding on the Fabia RS. My only worry is the insurance premium on this car but I believe the car's efficiency overwrites the premium. I conclude that Fabia RS 1.4L is a worthy ride given a refreshing look with jaw dropping engine performance. I name it the the 2011 Road Monster Fabia and recommend car buyers to test drive this model before deciding on a car. Your opinion might change upon accelerating.... Read More
