Whole new driving experience. Takes a year to get use to all the functions and driving style. This isn't just a car from point to point, it's a theatre, a sport car, a family car, a place to take power naps without dying from CO2 poisoning, my work is hectic. Always feared dying in my estima when taking short naps. Charging not an issue at all. So many chargers around now compared to 2021. JB can charge now. The software is more powerful than anyone can imagine. There is a lot more and resale demand is high. Best $ value per bhp. Its a drivers car. Connectivity with Andriod and Apple, Netflix, Maps, Spotify, Disney. Felt like iphone 1 in 2010. This is just the beginning of a long term ownership. No longer worry about GPS in countries that lease Tesla for self drive holidays.

Why the Tesla Model 3 is my favourite car! `
The 2022 Tesla Model 3 RWD, Tesla's entry level car, costs $224,655 (inclusive of Cat B COE), which is the price range of the Mercedes C and E class, BMW 3 series and Audi A4, all made by well established German car companies. After owning the Tesla Model 3 for almost a year and also a Merc E200, here's why I prefer the Model 3. To start, the exterior looks sporty while looking classy. The always on lamps on the headlights makes the car look like it has eyes. The front of the car also looks quite fierce, maybe that's why more people give way to me when driving the Model 3 compared to my E200. The design of the door handles are also unique, if you show it to any tech savvy person, they'll be able to identify that it came from a Tesla. Going inside the car, the first thing that you'll notice is the massive 15" Display on the dash, which is where most functions of the car is controlled from. Right below it is 2 wireless changing pads for you and your passenger's phones. The steering wheel and seats in the car are also heated and lined with stain resistant vegan leather, however to get the seats in the iconic white colour, it'll cost extra. Front passenger and rear passenger leg room is okay but not great. The rear seats are quite low, so when taller passengers are seated, their legs are bent upwards, a bit like in a squatting position. When on the road, the road noise is slightly louder than in my E200 but still much quieter than in my old Honda Vezel, as its electric and the front windows are actually double glazed, blocking out noise better. The handling of the car is also great, thanks to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres that came with the car and the car's low CG as the heavy battery pack is mounted beneath the car's flooring. The acceleration is also great, doing 0-100km/h in 6.1s, however the acceleration gets slightly slower as the battery % Gets lower, something German EVs like the Mercedes EQS or Porsche Taycan don't suffer from, according to other motoring journalists. The claimed range is 491km, however I get about 440km on a full charge. When cruising on the roads, you can also turn on autopilot, which comes with all Teslas, making the drive more relaxing. FSD is also purchasable for $11500 in the Tesla app.

A very good car but watch out for the road tax `
I was among the first to join the queue when Tesla opens for bookings in Singapore. I have owned my model 3 for close to a year and am very pleased with it, particularly in view of the rapidly escalating petrol prices. One catch however is the road tax. The 2nd year road tax bill is $3190. This is for a Standard Range Plus. The early model 3s are specified at 239KW, which exceeds both the 100KW and 230KW tax breaks. The tax penalty is heavy. Latest model 3s are specified at 208KW. The yearly road tax is a much more reasonable $2,100. SGcarmart still mistakenly quotes the yearly road tax at $1835. This is very misleading. The car is really as good as what everybody says it is - fast, quiet and comfortable, but it does exude a smarter than thou personality. An example is the adaptive cruise control. It refused to be turned on until it was fully trained through roadside features, and in my case, it was beyond 2 months into ownership. The reason I discovered was that it thought the road side was on the right side of the car, like in US or Europe. So it kept insisting in looking at road dividers and that didn't provide much education. Tesla's support is excellent if one manages to get through to its call centres. Their app or website are otherwise one way streets - from Tesla to you e. G. Time to update your software. Don't try to ask a question e.G. What is the power rating? A robot will defeat you.
