This 4th generation Audi A3 has so much to offer that it is a Jem.
Design: for people who seek comfort, the inside space has grown especially in the back seats area with ample room. The car felt bigger and stable when driven almost like driving a 2 litre car size. Compared to other German rival, Audi has maintained practicality, built quality and styling.
The mild hydrid is great on fuel economy and especially the start stop feature is smooth on transition from battery power to mechanical engine. Fuel consumption is good.
1 litre engine is a proven engine across the VW group, abundant spare parts available translate to low maintenance cost.
Audi service package takes away the fear of owning a German brand car against Japanese brand car as it is Reasonably priced to maintain an Audi A3.
I owned VW Golf, Audi A3 3rd generation and this 4th generation model is my latest daily driver car.

The Audi 1.0 Mild Hybrid has a refined drivetrain which any driver can appreciate (especially if you came from a NA 1.6 CAT A car). Foot to the throttle, the pick up is smooth and pleasant although it not as punchy in the higher speeds. Then again, this is not a Sports Car so I have no reason to judge it as such.
The mild hybrid engine also provides excellent fuel economy. I am averaging 900-1000km with 20% City and 80% Highway driving.
The cockpit design is driver focused which I love but the interior definitely has room for improvement when compared with it's rival German counterparts such as Mercedes A-Class and BMW 1-Series.
Overall, a fun and pleasant car to drive daily.

A smart exterior and high tech cabin, plus a wallet-friendly 1.0-litre unit under the bonnet. What more could you really want in an compact premium vehicle?

Pleasant to steer and with a tasty cabin, this Audi A3 is the sedan to get if you're looking to go premium without spending too much cash!

I am driving the 2018 Audi A3 1.0L
There are many things to love about this car
The pick-up is decent, the drive is comfortable and the fuel economy is great, especially with current pump prices
The thing that I cannot accept is squeaky brakes
It squeaks as you drive - makes a high pitched noise
I brought this car to the Audi service center to check the brakes over 5 times
Each time, the garage tells me that they cannot locate the fault
At the last visit, I insisted that they keep the car to monitor over a few days
Outcome? I have squeakily brake pads
Audi purposefully chose brake pads with higher metal content thus it will lead to noise. Doesn't matter if it's an A3 or A4 or A5… the service advisor says this will always happen
Replacing the pads will only temporarily stop the noise until the new brake pads wear down and start to make those noises too
Terrible that I need to live with this noise and Audi has no better solution

I just have to say, this Audi A3 has one of the best interiors in the segment. There's so many geometric patterns to the driver's instrument cluster, air-conditioning vents, the door handles, and the centre console it really strikes out as a premium offering even against its rivals!

The Audi A3 is a smart looking thing with a luxe interior to die for. If you're shopping for a luxury compact this would be a good choice.

I had owned and driven a VW Golf Mk 7.5 with 1 litre TSI engine. Now I owned a Audi A3 1 Litre engine. The Audi A3 drives better than the Golf with the same engine. Smooth engine, better Auto start stop than the Golf without the engine starting roughly, smooth. I guess it could be the better battery from Audi.
The quality and fit is premium and the brand Audi does carry a premium image.
In the US, Audi A3 was voted Year 2020 best compact sedan in the J D power web site. So it cannot go wrong to own one.
Servicing is covered by Audi first three years but similar to VW Golf the service cost should be economical since it is the same engine.

The A3 is an attainable entrance to the lifestyle of Conti cars for most people, you even see older A3s available from car-sharing services as well as Private-Hire cars.
While it might sound rather undesirable to purchase something that is positioned almost at the bottom of the category of car, the A3 actually provides rather good value. Starting with the looks, the A3 sure looks sharp and handsome, with a hint of sportiness. Audi has also lengthened the A3, so to be honest, there's enough space in this to fit most adults comfortably at the rear.
While the interior, being an Audi, and an entry level one, sure isn't particularly fancy or luxurious, it is well built and practical. Driving impressions are decent as well, the 1.5-litre mild hybrid engine should be similar to the one in some of the recent Skodas, over here in the A3, it is sufficiently powerful, resulting in a zippy and swift drive.
