The new generation of MINI has set foot on our sunny shores, and will be available in two variants - Cooper and Cooper S. The automotive icon signals a more grown up character, with optimisation in aspects such as space, safety, materials and finish quality as well as driving dynamics and ride comfort.
New engine technologies have allowed both the Cooper and Cooper S to provide better performance, yet reducing fuel consumption and emission levels by as much as 27 percent compared to their predecessors.
The base Cooper receives a 1.5-litre three-cylinder unit which produces 136bhp and 220Nm of torque, while the Cooper S gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder plant with 192bhp and 280Nm of torque. Both variants come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The new MINI Cooper has also grown in all dimensions, with close to 100mm increase in length and 44mm in width. The track width has also been enlarged for better road holding capability.
Prices for the new MINI Cooper and Cooper S start from $160,300 and $185,300 respectively, including COE.
