The future of efficient mobility has arrived.
BMW has just delivered its first eight of the highly anticipated and acclaimed i8 plug-in hybrid sports cars to customers at BMW Welt in Munich, Germany.
An exclusive evening reception with celebrity guests, rounded off the official vehicle presentation.
The BMW i8 is the BMW Group's first plug-in hybrid vehicle. It combines the driving performance of a high-performance sports car with the fuel consumption and emissions of a small car.
With the handover, BMW has become the first manufacturer in the world to offer laser-powered headlights in a production vehicle. The BMW i8 is the first series produced vehicle to feature this completely new lighting technology but unlike the Audi R8 LMX, it isn't standard equipment.
The laser-boost feature extends the high-beam range to up to 600 metres, doubling the illumination range of the latest LED high-beam headlights. Furthermore, the new technology uses 30 percent less energy than ultra power-saving LED lights, takes up less installation space inside the headlight and weighs less.
