Porsche has unveiled its latest 911 model range at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre. Six high-performance variants were launched at the event - the 911 Carrera, 911 Carrera S, 911 Carrera S Cabriolet, 911 Carrera 4S, 911 Targa 4S and the top-of-the-line 911 Turbo.
This new unveiling captures the spirit of the 911 since 1963 and is the result of decades of experience distilled into one compact and purebred sports car that makes one steady step forward into the future.
The design, engine, chassis, interior - a considerable number of components in the new 911 have been improved and enhanced to deliver an even better driving experience and more driving comfort and pleasure.
A good illustration of the most striking exterior design change in the new 911 is the redesigned rear deck lid with vertical grilles, which were modified to increase air intake to cool the engines, in turn increasing fuel economy.
Air vents on the front bumper have also been reshaped to feature active flaps that automatically open and close while the car is in motion to reduce drag and achieve maximum aerodynamic performance.
The new 911 is now fitted with an all new 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, meaning that the new base model of the range boasts 365bhp. One step up from the Carrera, the Carrera S delivers 414bhp and reaches a top speed of 308km/h. More impressively, it blazes through the tarmac from 0-100km/h in a mere 3.9 seconds with Sport Chrono Package - the first 911 in the Carrera family to undercut the magic four-second mark.
The new 911 Turbo adopts significant characteristics of the Carrera models, supplemented by typical 911 Turbo special features, like new 20-inch wheels. The rear body has also been thoroughly reworked, with exit openings for the exhaust system at the rear, as well as redesigned dual tail pipes.
More importantly, the 911 Turbo's 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine now produces a whopping 533bhp.
Also on the new 911 is Porsche's Active Stability Management (PASM), available as standard together with new wheels that reduce rolling resistance. Ride height has been lowered by 10mm, stability during fast cornering improved, and more precise response characteristics ensure that driving comfort is also enhanced.
