Self-driving car collides with lorry at Biopolis Drive

An incident involving a self-driving vehicle and a lorry occurred on Tuesday, 18th October, morning at Biopolis Drive in the one-north business district area. A photo of the incident was uploaded onto Facebook page Singapore Taxi Driver by Mr. Michael Chong Kwan Chew, with the caption 'Driverless car got accident with lorry (sic)'.
According to a Facebook post by the Land Transport Authority (LTA), the incident occurred at 9:28am. LTA said that the test vehicle was changing lanes when it collided with a lorry, and no casualties were involved. The police are currently investigating the cause of the incident. The self-driving car belonged to driverless taxi company nuTonomy.
When contacted, the company issued a statement that the self-driving car was 'conducting on-road testing' when it was involved in the incident. It said that there were no injuries and the nuTonomy car was operating with two engineers on-board and 'travelling at a low speed at the time of the incident'.
It added that it was 'cooperating fully' with the investigation by the Singapore Traffic Police and LTA, as well as conducting its own investigation into the exact cause of the incident.
