  • Cat B and E COE prices on the rise

For the first round of bidding in July, COE premiums for Cat A stay the same while Cat B and Cat E prices see a slight increase.

In the first COE bidding exercise for July, COE premiums see a slight increase for Cat B and Cat E while Cat A prices stay the same.

Premiums for Cat A, for cars up to 1,600cc in engine capacity and with an output of no more than 130bhp, remained at $42,801.

Premiums for Cat B, larger cars with more than 130bhp or engine displacements larger than 1,600cc, went up by $2,301 (4.8 percent) and ended at $49,802.

In Cat E, the open category, prices also rose by $1,898 (4.0 percent), with premiums closing at $49,899.

The increase in Cat B and Cat E premiums for this round of bidding could likely be caused by car buyers rushing to purchase their cars before the Euro 6 emissions standard takes effect in September.

It could also be attributed to several recent and upcoming new car launches, including the Audi Q5, the Toyota Harrier and the Porsche Panamera Executive.
