Launch of the all new Land Rover Discovery in Singapore

The all new Land Rover Discovery has been launched in Singapore, during a unique event held at Corals @ Keppel Bay on Friday, 26th August. To showcase the capabilities of the all new Discovery, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) also brought in specially designed obstacles as part of the Land Rover Experience Tour. These obstacles are making their debut in the region, allowing participants to scale a 5m tall structure and conquer a steep climb and descent, as well as to wade through a simulated river crossing.
The exterior design of the new Discovery, previewed by the Discovery Vision concept which debuted in 2014, represents a radical departure for the brand, and is a dramatic reinterpretation of the model's 27-year heritage and practical DNA. It retains key design cues, such as the stepped roofline, whilst adding optimised proportions and sophisticated surfaces.
Inside, the key element of the car's design brief is that it must seat seven full-sized adults. To achieve this, Land Rover benchmarked it against something it calls the 95th percentile - the Discovery is designed such that it must be able to fit 95 percent of the tallest people in the world (Dutch men).
The Discovery also features a world-first Intelligent Seat Fold technology, which allows you to reconfigure the second and third-row seats using controls at the rear of the vehicle and the central touchscreen. The Discovery also comes equipped with JLR's InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, featuring a 10-inch touchscreen. Another key technology feature is the Activity Key wristband. The waterproof Activity Key allows owners to enjoy sports and other outdoor activities without having to worry about losing the standard key fob or getting it wet.
On-road performance is enhanced by Land Rover's lightweight and durable aluminium monocoque architecture, as well as the advanced integral link rear suspension that delivers improved handling without compromising ride comort. Powering the new Discovery SUV is a 3.0-litre diesel engine, producing 254bhp and 600Nm of torque, paired to a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox.
A limited-run 'First Edition' model (of which 2,400 examples are available globally) features unique touches and exclusive features like etched map detailing on the aluminium door trim and unique badges, and have all been sold out. And according to JLR, about 70 percent of Singapore's current allocation of the new Discovery has already been booked (including a First Edition model).
