Kyalami Circuit is an important milestone in South African motorsports, as it was once part of the Formula One racing calendar. The last F1 race that the country hosted happened at this very circuit in 1993.
Visitors will be able to check out the latest fleet of BMW's M cars, as the event name suggests.
They will get an opportunity to book test drives, check out the latest BMWs on offer, and enjoy live music performances by renowned South African DJs and artists.
BMW Works driver, Sheldon van der Linde, will offer visitors hot laps in his Shell BMW M4 DTM race car, too.
And, it isn't just new cars. BMW showcased the South African market only 530 Motorsport Limited Edition (MLE), lovingly restored by BMW Group South Africa. Based on an E12 5 Series, the 530 MLE is one of the first cars developed by BMW's Motorsport division.
The all-time favourite, the E30 325is, is also being showcased. A collection of heritage vehicles will also make an appearance at the festival.
We didn't just check out the sights and sounds that the BMW M Festival has to offer. We're here in Johannesburg, South Africa, to drive three BMWs.
Since it is the BMW M Festival after all, we got to drive two M cars around the historical racing circuit. They are the X3 M Competition and the X4 M Competition. With a tremendous 503bhp and 600Nm of torque coming from the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine powering all four wheels, it ensures both cars will do the century sprint in 4.1 seconds.
It isn't just blisteringly quick SUVs we're driving. Off the track, we got behind the wheel of BMW's latest hatchback offering too - the BMW 1 Series. As we have driven the diesel-powered 118d, we instead took a petrol-powered 118i around the backroads of Kyalami.
