The new Aston Martin DBX was launched in Singapore at the Wearnes Automotive Centre today, 20 November, concurrently with its global debut in Beijing, China. Aston Martin's first SUV is built on a brand new, dedicated SUV platform, gifting it with the soul of a sports car.
The first hint of Aston Martin's foray into the sports SUV segment traces back to 2015 when the DBX Concept was introduced. It also marks the start of the development of the DBX that was unveiled earlier today. The DBX signals a new era in Aston Martin's pursuit to deliver exceptional performance, style and usability in a segment previously unexplored by the British luxury marque.
The DBX is built upon a new dedicated SUV platform, allowing Aston Martin to innovate and push the boundaries of design and engineering. By using bonded aluminium, a method of construction that was refined through the development of Aston Martin's range of sports cars, a lightweight yet incredibly stiff body structure is achieved - resulting in an overall kerb weight of just 2,245kg. Meanwhile, the exceptional stiffness inherent in the design of the new platform has also enabled DBX to achieve exceptional dynamics both on and off-road.
It also features an adaptive triple volume air suspension system that has been combined with the latest 48V electric anti-roll control system (eARC) and electronic adaptive dampers, giving it the ability to raise the ride height by 45mm or lower it by 50mm to tackle a wide range of terrain.
This sophisticated system of adaptive air suspension, dampers and eARC allows for maximum ride comfort when transporting up to five occupants and their luggage, while maintaining a highly responsive and engaging dynamic capability.
Upon initial glance, the DBX harkens to the the rest of Aston Martin's lineup with its signature 'DB' grille, through the sculptured sides and flowing to the tailgate with a lip that draws inspiration from the Vantage.

The luxurious interior of DBX offers class-leading headroom and legroom. Full grain leather seats, combined with a full-length glass panoramic roof and frameless door glass, make the cabin a spacious and comfortable environment to be in. A huge 12.3-inch TFT screen provides crucial information for the driver, while a 10.25-inch TFT screen sits in the centre console. Apple CarPlay comes as standard, as does a 360-degree camera system and ambient lighting that offers 64 different colours in two zones.
As an industry first, both the headlining and electric roof blind are available in a luxurious Alcantara finish. Throughout the cabin, the DBX maintains an authenticity of materials, with judicious use of metal, glass and wood throughout. With 632 litres of boot space and 40:20:40 split folding rear seats, the DBX possesses all the flexible load capacity expected of an SUV with class-leading interior space.
The Aston Martin DBX is powered by a new version of the 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine found in DB11 and Vantage, featuring an impressive output of 542bhp and 700Nm of torque. This powerful engine propels the DBX from 0 to 100km/h in a mere 4.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 291km/h. Transmitting this power and torque to the ground is a nine-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, allied to an all-wheel drive system with active differentials featuring an active central differential and an electronic rear limited slip differential (eDiff).
The new Aston Martin DBX is expected to reach customers here in Singapore in Q3 2020 at an indicative price of $800,000.
