BMW has unveiled the new X2 xDrive25e which combines versatile sportiness with an electrified drive system in a Sports Activity Coupe body.
The new car combines a 1.5-litre three-cylinder combustion engine and an electric motor to deliver not only exemplary efficiency but also the brand-typical driving pleasure expected of a BMW.
The 1.5-litre combustion engine develops a maximum power output of 123bhp and a peak torque of 220Nm. Power is transferred to the front wheels via a six-speed Steptronic transmission. Meanwhile, the electric motor produces 94bhp and a maximum torque of 165Nm and transfers its drive torque to the rear wheels by means of a single-stage transmission.
Together, the electric motor and the combustion engine deliver a combined system output of 217bhp, while the maximum system torque of both drive units combined is 385Nm. The all new BMW X2 xDrive25e completes the sprint from zero to 100km/h in 6.8 seconds.
The high voltage battery in the BMW X2 xDrive25e has a gross energy content of 10kWh, enabling the new BMW X2 xDrive25e to achieve an electric-only range of up to 57km, calculated based on the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure test cycle.
The BMW X2 xDrive25e can be identified from its petrol-driven versions from its new front bumper design, which forgoes the previous round fog lamps. Instead, a bad weather light feature, which is integrated into the standard LED head lights, now delivers maximum illumination of the areas on each side of the road in inclement weather conditions.
A high-gloss black surround now also features on the lower air intakes, while the choice of exterior colours will be supplemented by a new Phytonic Blue metallic.
The model-specific standard equipment range for the new BMW X2 xDrive25e comprises an acoustic pedestrian protection warning as well as 17-inch light alloy wheels, two-zone automatic climate control and standard air conditioning, which can also be remotely controlled per Smartphone via BMW Connected.
Hybrid-related readouts on the Control Display will provide the driver with information on energy flow, current and previous consumption levels as well as the proportion of the total kilometres covered by the vehicle with both the electric motor and combustion engine.
