Cat A COE - Premiums slip $689

Premiums for Cat A, for cars up to 1,600cc in engine capacity and with an output of no more than 130bhp, took a slight hit this bidding round, dropping by $689 (1.4%) to end at $47,821 this bidding round.

This slip in premiums for the category mean the current premium now stands at 19.7% above the 12-month trailing average.

The number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the available quota by 42%. This figure has averaged 53% for Cat A in the last 12 months.

Cat B COE - Premiums tumble $4,077

Premiums for Cat B, for larger cars with more than 130bhp or engine displacements larger than 1,600cc, saw the biggest fall this bidding session, dropping by $4,077 (6.8%) to end at $56,032.

This latest slip sees the premium for this bidding round settling into the 83^rd percentile of the 12-month trailing average, at 23.3% higher than the average for premiums of the last 12 months.

The total bids received this round sees the number of unsuccessful bids exceeding the quota available by only 22%, below the 12-month average of 57%.

Cat C - Premiums hold steady

Premiums for Cat C, for goods vehicles and buses, decreased by $2 (0.01%) to end at $37,000.

The number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the available quota by 101%, higher than the 12-month trailing average of 73%.

Cat E COE -  Premiums slip $3,111

In Cat E, the open category, premiums likewise slipped, falling by $3,111 (5.1%), to close at $58,001.

The premium for this bidding round now stands at 41.5% above the 12-month trailing average and is at the 92^nd percentile of the premiums of the last 12 months.

The number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the available quota by 50%, lower than the 12-month trailing average of 61%.

Prevailing Quota Premium

The Prevailing Quota Premium is the amount to be paid for COE renewal and is computed from the moving average of the previous three-months of COE prices. Those looking to renew the COE on their cars will thus have to pay the following prices for the respective months.
