  • The 718 family gets a new flagship: The Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 RS

With a 493bhp 4.0-litre engine and a weight of only 1,415kg, the Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 RS will sprint from zero to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds.

Porsche has unveiled a new flagship for the 718 family, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS.

With a lightweight construction, extremely agile chassis set-up, sophisticated aerodynamics and unique soundtrack, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS is an uncompromising driver's car.

A new fixed rear wing and a 30mm ride height reduction give the 718 Cayman GT4 RS approximately 25% more downforce than the GT4
The car is powered by a 493bhp 4.0-litre mid-mounted engine that revs to 9,000rpm. Maximum torque from the engine stands at 450Nm. All this power is put to the road via a low-ratio double-clutch gearbox, which thanks to the car's low 1,415kg weight, allows it to sprint from zero to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds. The car has a top speed of 315km/h.

Aiding the 718 Cayman GT4 RS to reach that low weight are carbon fibre reinforced plastic components such as the bonnet and front wings.

The car also utilises lightweight carpets, and has its amount of insulation material reduced. The rear window is also made of lightweight glass, while lightweight door panels with textile opening loops and nets on the storage compartments complete the quest to eliminate every additional gram.

Delivering the flat-six soundtrack into the cabin are new air intakes behind the driver and passenger windows in place of the small side windows. The new air intakes improve both the intake airflow and create a thrilling intake noise right next to the occupants' ears. The characteristic air intakes in front of the rear wheels have been retained and are used for engine cooling.

20-inch forged magnesium wheels can also be ordered for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS if you opt for the Weissach package
For increased aerodynamic performance, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS gets a new fixed rear wing with a swan-neck attachment and aluminium wing supports.

Derived from the Porsche 911 RSR GT racing car, the spoiler works with the 30mm reduction in ride height compared to the 718 Cayman.

These couple with the vents on the front wheel arches, aerodynamically optimised underbody panelling with connected rear diffuser, the multi-adjustable front diffuser and the new front spoiler lip to allow the GT4 RS to generate approximately 25% more downforce than the GT4.

An adjustable, circuit-ready chassis with a RS-specific shock absorber set-up, as well as modified spring and anti-roll bar rates ensure excellent handling on the road or track.

The 718 Cayman GT4 RS can also be had with the Weissach package, which takes its dynamic design even further.

The Weissach package also finishes the upper section of the dashboard in Race-Tex material
With the package, the front luggage-compartment lid, process air intakes, cooling air intakes, airbox cover, exterior mirror upper trims and rear wing will sport a carbon-weave finish, while the cabin gets a dashboard with its upper section upholstered in Race-Tex material.

The Weissach package also adds titanium tailpipes and a titanium roll cage at the rear. 20-inch forged magnesium wheels can also be ordered instead of the 20-inch forged aluminium wheels.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS  is available to order at a base price of $628,488 from Porsche Centre Singapore.
