Seat and Cupra saw good growth in 2021 with 470,500 vehicles sold from both marques, a 10.3% increase compared to 2020 thanks to increased demand for electrified models as well as Cupra's vehicles.
Seat itself saw sales reach 391,200, a 2.0% decline from 2020, as the firm was affected by the shortage of semiconductors. Seat's best-selling vehicles were the Seat Arona (106,900 units), followed by the Seat Ibiza (95,800), and the Seat Leon (87,700).
Sales of the Cupra Born have reached 3,300 units in 2021, despite going on sale only in November of that year Seat's electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle sales however, increased fourfold in the year, from 14,700 to 60,600 cars.
Cupra meanwhile, nearly tripled its sales, reaching a volume of 79,300 vehicles, 189% more than in 2020, thanks to the Formentor. 41% of Cupra sales in the past 12 months were electrified vehicles.
With 54,600 units sold, the Cupra Formentor led the way of the Cupra brand. Demand for the Formentor has exceeded all expectations and it became one of the company's best-selling models, representing almost 70% of the cars sold by the brand in 2021.
3,300 units of the Cupra Born have also went on sale since the all-electric car went on sale in November of 2021, a promising start that the brand expects to build on in the coming months, with the introduction of different battery capacities (45kWh, 58kWh and 77kWh) as well as a more powerful e-Boost version (with 228bhp).
