Mercedes-AMG has unveiled a new C43 Sedan and Estate.
Top highlight for the new performance-oriented compact is the fact that it has lost the 3.0-litre V6 engine of its predecessor, and in its place now rests the M139 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine.
The Mercedes-AMG C43 gets a diffuser-look rear bumper that houses round twin-tailpipe trim elements This engine produces 402bhp and 500Nm in the Mercedes-AMG C43 Sedan, and is force fed via an electrically-assisted turbocharger, as we first saw in the Mercedes-AMG SL43.
And all this power is put to road through a nine-speed multi-clutch transmission, as well as a rear-biased all-wheel drive system, which will allow the Mercedes-AMG C43 Sedan to sprint from zero to 96km/h in 4.6 seconds. The C43 Estate, meanwhile, will complete the sprint in just 4.7 seconds.
Reigning all this performance in are steel springs coupled with an adaptive damping system, which AMG states has also been upgraded with specially developed steering knuckles and suspension joints at the front axle, alongside altered elastokinematics at the rear.
12.3-inch digital instrument cluster pairs with a 11.9-inch LCD center touchscreen in the cabin Further aiding affairs here is all-wheel steering, which steer the rear wheels at a maximum of 2.5 degrees in the opposite direction at low speeds for increased manoeuvrability, and up to 0.7 degrees in parallel with the front wheels at high speeds for increased stability.
The Mercedes-AMG C43 also gets its stopping power via internally ventilated and perforated brake discs measuring 370mm x 36mm with four-piston fixed calipers up front. Those at the rear meanwhile, measure 320mm x 24mm and get a single-piston floating caliper.
You'll be able to identify the C43 from the run-of-the-mill C-Class thanks to its AMG-specific radiator grille with vertical struts finished in chrome. There's also an AMG front bumper with additional air flics and sportier air intakes.

The dashboard and upper door trim are also here upholstered in leather with red topstitching, and the sporty atmosphere rounded off by AMG sport pedals, AMG floor mats and illuminated door sills with AMG lettering.
