BMW has ended series production of the i3 at Plant Leipzig with an exclusive HomeRun Edition, limited to just 10 examples.

Series production of the BMW i3 has now to come to an end, some eight and a half years after the electric compact model was first launched.

The BMW i3 ends its production run just shortly after the model saw its 250,000th unit produced in Leipzig. BMW states this sustained production run of the BMW i3 makes it the world's most successful electric vehicle in the premium compact segment.

The special BMW i3s HomeRun Edition comes in either a Frozen Dark Grey or a Frozen Dark Red II exterior paint finish
In celebration of the model's close of production, BMW has built 10 examples of a special BMW i3s HomeRun Edition. These special models get a either a Frozen Dark Grey and Frozen Dark Red II exterior paint finish, marking the first time the i3 has had a Frozen paint finish from BMW Individual.

The limited edition models also get 20-inch light alloy wheels, an electrically operated glass roof, and adaptive LED head lights. In the cabin meanwhile, the BMW i3s HomeRun Edition is finished in Vernasca Dark Truffle leather upholstery, and gets a leather instrument panel, a leather steering wheel with galvanised trim, and a Carum Grey roof lining.

The BMW i3 has been sold in more than 74 countries around the world. BMW Leipzig meanwhile, will begin production of the next generation MINI Countryman from 2022, utilising and furthering the electric mobility expertise of the workforce.
