Bentley has added the most driving-focused Flying Spur to its lineup, the Bentley Flying Spur Speed. The Flying Spur Speed sits above the S model and produces an extra 83bhp and 130Nm of torque, reducing the zero to 100km/h sprint to just 3.8 seconds from a previous figure of 4.2 seconds. Top speed has also been increased to a dizzying 333km/h. With the Speed, John Bullion will never miss another important company acquisition.
The car also gets a raft of chassis related technology. It will come with Electronic All Wheel Steering, Torque Vectoring by Brake technology and Bentley Dynamic Ride as standard.
The Speed variant stands out from the standard Flying Spur with dark tint finishes for a more aggresive presence Being a Bentley Speed variant means possessing styling cues such as dark tint finishes to the front grille, headlamps and tail lamps, and signature Speed badges on the lower wing. A more sporty 22-inch Speed wheel is standard with Dark Tint, Gloss Black or silver-painted finishes.
The Flying Spur Speed also includes jewelled fuel and oil filler caps. Customers who desire an even more performance-oriented look can specify Bentley's Styling Specification (carbon fibre front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser and a subtle bootlid spoiler) and Blackline Specification.
For the interior, the Speed model makes use of Dinamica Pure, an alcantara-like material that is made from 73% recycled polyester. The material is utilised in all of the occupant touch points to provide a more driver focused feel to the interior.
The Flying Spur Speed also possesses an intelligent clutch system that delivers drive to the rear axle. Upon detecting road conditions and wheel slip, the car will send drive to the front axle. This improves turn-in response, along with a lighter front end feel.
For immense stopping power, Bentley claims that the Flying Spur will share the largest iron brakes in the world with the Continental GT, with 420mm front discs. The Gloss Red front calipers carry the Bentley branding, with a Gloss Black finish as a cost option.
Bentley has stated that the anticipated take up rate of the Bentley Flying Spur Speed is expected to be around a third of Flying Spur orders in the U.S.A and Europe.
