Lexus has launched the new RX hybrid SUV here in Singapore, alongside the showcase of the new all-electric RZ crossover at the 2023 Singapore Motor Show.

Lexus has launched the new RX as well as the all-electric RZ here in Singapore.

The RX now sports a new 'Spindle Body' design feature up front, which brings the body colour down to the lower edge of the Lexus emblem. The grille pattern also follows this effect in a progressive manner into the section below the Lexus logo.

The Lexus RX features a distinctive 'Spindle Body' design at the front
The profile of the RX when viewed from the side and the rear has also been altered to give the car a more planted look. And at the rear, the combination lamps here feature an L-shaped horizontal signature with lenses that wrap around the body's sides, emphasising the car's wide silhouette.

Under all this new sheet metal, the Lexus RX is also now based on the firm's TNGA-K platform. The use of this platform offers increased body rigidity, optimal weight distribution, and reduced weight.

Lexus states that all these will mean increased confidence for drivers when behind the wheel, as well as high ride comfort and quietness, long-time traits of the Lexus brand.

A 14-inch touchscreen in the Lexus RX offers both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
In the cabin, the Lexus RX is said to feature a new, human-centred cockpit, designed to enhance the connection between vehicle and rider. This means all the switches and buttons have been designed and placed for intuitive operation.

The RX is currently available here equipped with a 2.5-litre hybrid drivetrain. This hybrid drivetrain puts out a total of 247bhp and 239Nm of torque, allowing the SUV to accelerate to 100km/h in 7.9 seconds. Official fuel consumption for this RX350h meanwhile, is a claimed 17.9km/L.

This variant will get SemiAnline upholstery in the cabin, alongside 10-way adjustable seats for the driver and front passenger, and the firm's 14-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The Lexus RZ will come with a 71.4kWh battery when it goes on sale here in Singapore
An RX450h+, equipped with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain that makes use of an 18.1 kWh battery, and an RX500h F Sport, which makes use of a turbocharged 2.4-litre hybrid drivetrain, will be offered here in Singapore at a later date.

Also set to launch here at a later date but already making its debut at the motor show from Lexus is its all-electric RZ.

The RZ also sports the same 'Spindle Body' design feature up front, alongside a minimalist and athletic design that is said to set a new direction for future all-electric vehicles from the firm.

Based on Toyota's e-TNGA platform, the Lexus RZ is expected to deliver a total output of 308bhp, distributed to all four wheels. This drivetrain will be powered by a 71.4kWh, allowing the RZ to offer a range of 410km.

A partially plant-derived material, called Ultrasuede BX will be utilised in the cabin of the RZ, delivering all passengers a high-quality tactile feel alongside high durability.
