Polestar and Swedish electric hydrofoil manufacturer Candela have revealed the C-8 electric hydrofoil.

The Candela C-8 makes use of the same 69kWh battery and charging technology as the Polestar 2 Standard range Single motor (read out review of the Long Range Single Motor Polestar 2 here). Candela expects this battery to give the C-8 a range of 57 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 22 knots. This figure, it states, compares favourably with internal combustion engine powerboats.

The Candela C-8 also makes use of a combination of innovative technology from both Candela and Polestar, such as an efficient direct drive pod motor. The C-8 also 'flies' on computer-guided hydrofoils that lift the hull above the water at high speeds, reducing energy consumption by up to 80% compared to traditional motorboats.

Polestar states that the supply of its batteries and charging technology to Candela is a first for the brand, and extends its efforts to drive sustainable electric mobility beyond the automotive industry.
