Hyundai has revealed more information about the new Kona Electric.
The design of the Hyundai Kona was first revealed in December 2022, now throughly modernised to stay abreast of rivals including the Peugeot e-2008 and recently revealed Kia Niro EV. Up front, there's what Hyundai calls a Pixelated Seamless Horizon Lamp stretching across the front of the car, as first seen on the Hyundai Staria.
A slim rear taillight element and parametric design elements feature in the rear of the Kona Electric The body of the Hyundai Kona Electric has also been redesigned for improved aerodynamic efficiency, while sculpted wheel arch armor and parametric surfaces add character to the car when viewed from the side.
The Kona Electric will also be offered in an N Line trim in various markets, which will deck out the car with black mirror as well as a spoiler and optional black roof.
The N Line trim also finishes the car with more aggressive front and rear bumpers, as well as a twin exhaust system at the rear and silver side skirts. A host of vivid exterior colours are said to be offered for the Kona Electric.
The Kona Electric is now based on an EV-derived universal architecture, allowing it to sport larger dimensions than its predecessor. Total length for the car is now 4,355mm, 175mm longer than before, while its wheelbase has also been stretched by an additional 60mm, to a new total of 1,660mm. The car is also now wider and taller than before.
Dual 12.3-inch panoramic display screens now sit in the cabin of the Kona Electric, while the centre console has been redesigned to offer more storage space All this, of course, translates to an increase in interior space. Here, a horizontal dashboard will hold dual 12.3-inch panoramic display screens, affirming the car's high-tech character. The Hyundai Kona Electric also now has its shift-by-wire gear selector relocated from the center console to behind the steering wheel, allowing it to offer more storage space in the console area.
A relaxation comfort seat option is available for the Kona EV. This seats are said to optimise weight distribution across the body, helping to minimise fatigue during driving. A Curveless Bench Seat at the second row, meanwhile, promises high passenger comfort.
The Hyundai Kona Electric is being offered in Europe with two drivetrain options. The first 'Long Range' variant, comes with a 65.4kWh battery that will send a total of 215bhp and 255Nm of torque to the wheels. This variant will offer an estimated 490km of range.
The 'Standard Range' variant, meanwhile, will come with a 48.4kWh battery, delivering 341km of range. This variant will deliver a total of 154bhp and 255Nm of torque.
