LEGO is celebrating 75 years of Land Rover by inviting all to build their own off-road adventure, right in their living room with the new LEGO Icons Classic Land Rover Defender 90 set.
The new set comes just after the announcement of a double-pack Speed Champions set in celebration of McLaren's 60th anniversary.
The 2,336-piece set can be built as a road-going model if you'd rather admire the Defender's clean and boxy silhouette
Complete with 2,336 pieces, the classic Defender set comes in a two-in-one format, allowing builders to create either an adventure-ready model, or an everyday road-ready example.
And of course, facilitating the latter build are all the accessories needed for an off-road expedition, including a roof rack, raised air intake, a working winch at the front, side rails and toolbox, plus traction plates for crossing mud and sand.
As with the LEGO Technic Land Rover Defender set (that is, the LEGO set of the modern Land Rover Defender) the LEGO Icons Classic Land Rover Defender 90 set comes complete with working steering and suspension, as well as opening doors and bonnet, although the interior here is instead based on the classic Defender.
To launch the set, the LEGO Group placed a real Classic Defender in the Scottish Highlands and used it to house the hardest-to-reach LEGO Store in the world. That was the scene for a challenge, which you can watch via LEGO's online store here, that features adventurers Raha Moharrak and Aldo Kane racing to be the first to find and build the new set. The LEGO Icons Classic Land Rover Defender 90 set will be available for purchase via LEGO's online store come 1 July 2023.
