Stellantis has announced that it will be investing in its Eisenach Assembly Plant to allow production of an all-electric successor to the Opel Grandland.

Stellantis has announced that it will invest over $186 million (€130 million) in the Eisenach Assembly Plant in Germany.

The investment is designed to add production of an all-electric successor to the Grandland SUV to the site. Based on the group's STLA Medium platform, the new vehicle is currently scheduled to see start of production come the second half of 2024.

The Eisenach Assembly Plant was opened in 1992 producing the Opel Astra, and celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022 with an open day even that commemorated production of 3.7 million vehicles. It additionally currently manufactures the plug-in hybrid variants of the Opel Grandland.

The new, all-electric successor to the Opel Grandland will form part of Opel's commitment to a fully electric lineup in Europe by 2028.
