    The Mitsubishi Delica Mini will offer those looking for a strong SUV-like design in a truly compact package the car they have always wanted.

    Mitsubishi has announced that it will start sales of a Delica Mini in Japan come May 2023.

    The Mitsubishi Delica nameplate may be more associated with a spacious MPV or a commercial van in many markets, but this Delica Mini takes miniaturisation to a serious level, so much so that it has become Kei-car in Japan.

    The links with the Delica name are still present, however, especially when it comes to the design of the Delica Mini. Up front, the car gets a strong and bold three-dimensional Dynamic Shield now iconic of Mitsubishi vehicles. This grille is supported by angular head lights that complete the Delica-like look.

    Gloss black wheel arches, and skid plates at the front and rear complete the adventure-ready look for the Delica Mini.

    Powering this Mitsubishi Delica Mini is, of course, a 0.6-litre engine. This three-cylinder unit can be had with a turbocharger to produce a total of 63bhp and 100Nm of torque. The Delica Mini can further be had with either two or four-wheel drive, with power being sent from the engine via a continuously variable transmission.

    In the cabin, the Mitsubishi Delica Mini features seats upholstered in a stain-resistant and water-repellant fabric befitting of its adventure-ready image. The material used in the cargo area as well as the backs of the rear seats are additionally said to be made of material that easily wipes clean.

    The rear seats additionally can slide a total of 320mm, allowing owners to trade legroom for  rear cargo space if necessary.
