Bentley has announced that it will be building a Le Mans Collection in celebration of the 100 years since the first running of the legendary race, as well as the 20 years since its sixth victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Limited to a total of 48 examples comprising of Bentley Continental GTs and GTCs, all Le Mans Collection models will come specified with the three-way Bentley Rotating Display offering a choice of touchscreen, dual veneer, or analogue dials.
The cars from the Le Mans collection get a '7' painted on their grilles, echoing the race-winning number on the 2003 Bentley Speed 8 However, owners of the models from the collection will also get a Vitrine displaying an engine valve in place of the standard central dial of this rotating display. This valve is taken from the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 of the 2003 Le Mans winning Bentley Speed 8, with a total of 24 out of the 32 valves available having beem bisected to create a total of 48 artefacts for this exclusive collection.
The standard 12-hour analogue clock from the rotating display has also been replaced with a 24-hour digital clock with a bespoke dial design.
The exterior of the cars from the collection have also been designed to echo the winning Speed 8 of 2003. The cars thus get a Verdant green exterior finish, complete with a Moonbeam racing stripe across the bonnet (which continues to run along the roof of the Coupe).
The collection will each get a bisected valve from the Bentley Speed 8 within their rotating displays The Bentley matrix grille at the front of the cars from the collection also features a painted '7' in Arctica white, combining the race-winning number of the 2003 racer with the painted radiators of the Bentleys that won Le Mans five times between 1924 and 1930.
The collection also get their carbon-fibre Styling specification body components finished in black with a subtle pinstripe in Moonbeam, while black 22-inch 10-spoke wheels shroud powerful carbon ceramic brakes and red brake calipers also feature on the cars.
The cars of the Le Mans Collection also get a bespoke 2003 wreath welcome lamp while Speed 8 sill plates and six-wreath treadplates will welcome all stepping into their cabins. A six-wreath emblem is also inlaid into high-gloss carbon fibre in the front fascia here, each wreath marking the six outright victories recorded by Bentley at Le Mans between 1924 and 2003.
The Le Mans Collection Continental GT and GTC will come equipped with Bentley's renowned 6.0-litre W12 engine, delivering 650bhp and 900Nm of torque. Bentley announced earlier in February of 2023 that it plans to retire this engine with the final 18 examples set to offer a total of 740bhp in the Batur.
