Ride-hailing platform Grab will be raising its platform fee upwards to $0.70 from $0.30 come 5 May 2023.
The firm made the announcement via an email sent to users of the platform. The new fee, it states, will be applied to all Grab transport service types.
The platform recently launched a new 'AudioProtect' feature designed to deter abuse during rides In the email, Grab states that the upward adjustment is being done so its platform fees charged are in line with other ride-hailing platforms available in Singapore. According to The Straits Times, however, only Gojek also charges a $0.70 platform fee.
Ride-hailing app Tada charges its customers $0.55 for trips that cost up to $18, while rides that cost more have an additional cost of $0.75. Ryde's platform fee is $0.30, while ComfortDelGro's taxi booking app does not charge customers any platform fee.
Grab additionally states that the raised platform fee will be used to support app improvements such as the addition of safety features, increased reliability and other driver-related benefits.
