The first details of the new, all-electric MINI 3-Door have been revealed.
The firm has revealed that it will build a MINI Cooper E as well as a MINI Cooper SE, with outputs of 181bhp and 215bhp respectively. For comparison, the current petrol-powered MINI Cooper 3-Door generates a total of 134bhp, while the Cooper S 3-Door produces a total of 176bhp.
MINI has additionally revealed that both cars will get lithium-ion batteries, with the one in the MINI Cooper E offering a 40.7kWh capacity, while the one in the MINI Cooper SE will offer a capacity of 54.2kWh.
MINI predicts this battery capacity will give the cars a range of between 300km to 400km - an improvement over the claimed 232km range of the current MINI Electric - which, with 43,000 units sold worldwide last year, is already the most popular MINI model.
Both models are set to be produced at the BMW Group Plant Leipzig from November 2023 alongside the new MINI Countryman.
