Burst water pipe causes road surface to cave in
17 Mar 2013|2,265 views
Yet another section of a road caved in last night - this time at Woodlands due to a burst water pipe. The caved in section has since been closed to traffic with repair works proceeding late into the night.
When quizzed by The Sunday Times, The Land Transport Authority (LTA) explained at around 8:00pm, a burst water pipe caused a localised depression on the road surface along a short stretch of Woodlands Road towards the city. Both lanes were closed to traffic in the view of the safety of the motorists and to facilitate repair works.
The latest cave in comes after a sinkhole appeared along Clementi Road - which reappeared four days after it was filled by the authorities.
