  • Renault teases with the Twin'Z concept

A joint collaboration between Renault and British designer Ross Lovegrove saw the conceptualisation of Twin'Z for the city.

The Twin'Z is the fifth concept car from the French's design strategy which was rooted from the basics of the human life cycle - visually represented by a six-petal flower. This new concept is the love child of Renault and British designer Ross Lovegrove, which aims to bring together two different worlds where design plays a vital role - that of the furniture and automobile.

The concept draws inspiration from some of the brand's most iconic models, such as the Renault 5 and Twingo, integrating technology and refinement elements. Described as a 'fun, artistic and modern' take on the city car, the Twin'Z aims to stir and excite the senses.

Running fully on electricity, the supermini features a rear-mounted motor, with its battery pack mounted beneath the floor. This give rise to a clean and spacious interior, coupled with better handling dynamics.

Ross' influence is apparent on the bodywork, providing finishing touches on the bumpers, lights, grille, LED roofscape and wheels. His team also gave inputs for the interior, including the choice of colours and material, in conjunction with Renault.

Unlike the previous concepts which were unveiled at motor shows, the Twin'Z was given an 'out-of-box' launch at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano, playing the centrepiece of the Design industry's annual calendar.
