Just as Aston Martin reaches its centennial anniversary this year, the British sports car manufacturer has announced a technical partnership with Mercedes-AMG - the fully-owned subsidiary and high performance arm of Daimler AG.
The partnership will allow Aston Martin to access AMG's technical resources, such as development of bespoke V8 powerplants and certain components of its electric architecture.
A substantial part of the collaboration will also include a supply agreement between Mercedes-AMG, Daimler AG and Aston Martin.
Speaking on the collaboration, Aston Martin Product Development Director, Ian Minards, said, "Aston Martin sources cutting edge technology from key suppliers around the globe and the opportunity to include content from Mercedes-AMG GmbH in our next generation sports car is, clearly, good news."
While each has their distinct characteristics, it will be interesting to see how these two brands can collaborate on technical terms. We'll keep our fingers crossed for something exciting to come out of the partnership.
