BMW Asia has unveiled the facelifted BMW 5 Series in Sedan and Gran Turismo (GT) variants, featuring precise modifications to emphasise their sporty design, enhanced functionality, as well as additional features powered by BMW ConnectedDrive technology.
The variant available for the new sedan now comprises of 520i, 528i, 535i and BMW ActiveHybrid 5, while customers opting for the new 5 Series GT can choose between the 528i and 535i.
The facelifted range offer reduced fuel consumption thanks to embedded innovative technologies including a new coasting mode that disengages the powertrain, to help further improve fuel economy, yet with no drop-off in sporting ability.
In the cabin of the Sedan, the Control Display is now bordered by chrome trim while the storage compartments and cup holders in the centre console have increased in capacity.
A new Luxury Line exudes a higher level of elegance and exclusivity thanks to carefully assembled selection of high-class features. The exterior is showered with chrome treatment in areas from the trim bars of the lower air intake and the kidney grille slats to the window recess finishers and the trim strip in the rear apron.
In the cabin you get leather upholstery with exclusive stitching, a black sports leather steering wheel and interior trim strips in exquisite Fineline anthracite wood. A Luxury badge on the side further distinguishes this model from the rest. Alternatively a model-specific M Sport package is also available, which further increases the scope for individualisation.
"With all the signature ingredients ranging from dynamic ability, to comfort and efficiency, to aesthetic allure and a profusion of innovations designed to enhanced driving pleasure, the BMW 5 Series definitely has what it takes to be the best selling model at the premium end of the executive segment," said Mr Neil Fiorentinos, Managing Director of BMW Group Asia.
He also added the sixth generation has been the most successful model since the introduction of the 5 Series in 1972. To date, over 6.6 million BMW 5 Series cars have been delivered to customers and the current BMW 5 Series is expected to surpass the record set by the highly successful two previous generation models, each of which sold in excess of 1.4 million units.
