Virtually the coupe version of the 1 Series, BMW has let light on the latest 2 Series. The 2 Series Coupe measures 4,432mm in length, 1,774mm in width, and stands at 1,418mm, with a wheelbase of 2,690mm. Compared to its predecessor, the interior space is increased and boot space is expanded to 390 litres.

The exterior paintwork of the BMW 2 Series Coupe can be ordered in a choice of two non-metallic and 10 metallic shades, while customers can also specify Estoril Blue metallic as part of the M Sport package.
The dominant themes of the interior are the driver-focused design of the cockpit, contemporary functionality and high quality materials. An Easy Entry function for the front seats facilitates access to the two rear seats, which offer 21mm more legroom than the outgoing Coupe, while headroom for the driver and front passenger has grown by a similar extent.
The Control Display comes in 6.5 or 8.8-inch form, depending on the version specified, while the Controller on the centre console has a touch-sensitive surface which allows the driver to input characters. Dakota leather trim is available as an alternative to the standard cloth seat surfaces in a choice of three colours. The interior trim strips come in matt Satin Silver as standard but are also optionally available in brushed aluminium or Fineline Stream exquisite wood.

Also available is the M Sport package which comprises suspension tuning that results in a 10mm reduction in height and 17-inch M light alloy wheels in double-spoke design. Aerodynamically optimised body elements include larger front air intakes, striking side skirts and a diffuser for the rear apron. A special design for the BMW kidney grille and an exhaust tailpipe finished in high-gloss chrome round up the M Sport Package.
In the cabin you get special door sill strips, sports seats for front occupants, special trim and a special dial design for the instrument cluster, among others.
One four-cylinder petrol and one four-cylinder diesel power unit are available from launch, putting 184bhp and 270Nm of torque in the guises of the BMW 220i Coupe and BMW 220d Coupe. Following are two more four-cylinder diesel models in the form of the BMW 218d Coupe with 143bhp and BMW 225d Coupe with 218bhp.
The 220i Coupe sprints to 100km/h in 7.0 seconds on the way to a top speed of 235km/h or 230km/h for the automatic. The average fuel consumption of the BMW 220i Coupe is up to 6.3L/100km for the manual, with a CO2 emission of up to 148g/km.
Meanwhile the 2.0-litre diesel engine in the 220d Coupe has 184bhp and 380Nm of torque. When fitted with the standard manual gearbox, the 220d dashes to 100km/h in 7.2 seconds before climbing to 230km/h. Average fuel economy stands around 4.8L/100km with CO2 emission of up to 125g/km.

The vehicle concept of the BMW 2 Series Coupe is underlined by its specific front and rear end design, dynamically stretched lines and an almost 110mm increase in body length over the BMW 1 Series. Characteristic design elements of BMW Coupes have been carried over into the compact segment albeit in a fresh twist.
