Subaru has announced major improvements to the next generation EyeSight driver assistance system.
The new system now features not one, but two cameras with colour detection and stereo recording functions, and can detect ranges that are up to 40 percent longer and wider.
Thanks to the colour differentiation technology, the system can now detect brake lights of other cars. The camera can also function when the speed differential of the host and another vehicle is up to 48km/h - up from 30km/h in the current system.
Despite packing more technologies, the latest EyeSight system is 15 percent smaller than its predecessor, and will be offered on more Subaru cars.
The current EyeSight System has earned the highest rating given by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) when it was first tested last year.
