Pop My Cherry, Yellow MINI!

There's nothing OMG about heading out for a big bang party in a yellow MINI. For you see, if there wasn't such a thing as party, there really wouldn't be a sweet story for me to write about the MINI.

So the stage was all set for the party-goer of a hot hatch. We arrived at Zouk Singapore with the show-stopping and spellbinding yellow bohemian bombshell that was to be our centre of attraction.
Now bearing in mind that my fellow party partners and myself are getting on with age, you will have to believe me when I say that putting us through the surging tempos of contemporary music can be a fact that is hard to believe. Yet, we did because the dusty nostalgia of disco, funk, soul and dance music is far too similar to the characteristics of the MINI.
So, on this lush, high-energy revivalism, we entered into a realm of what seemed to be like a time machine and started moving our bodies, pretending to be 21 rather than 31. This kinetic and mesmerising (somewhat awkward) view clearly indicated that it's a first move by an exciting force that will start to set things in motion, especially with music that was more gold than old. For us, at least.
While you may contest with such disgust, just like how I may do the same to Justin 'pui' ber and Miley 'sai' rus, you must understand that my skill set as a writer started way after my knowledge of the music culture in general. Thus, maybe when it comes to music, my ability and willingness to crib freely from the amazing pop, rock or just oldies is far more important than actual talent. But let's just leave that story for another night.

With a distance close to 370km between Zouk Singapore and Zouk KL, we took off for the latter right after our night at the former ended. Bearing in mind this distance takes about 3 hours and 45 minutes to complete, we took a lot lesser than that.
Not a lot of hot hatches will swallow distance like water but the MINI feels born for a challenge like this, despite its size. It manages to combine even more composure than before (so undulations on the road is no longer an uncomfortable affair), with a freedom of expression that allows you to dart from the outer left lane to the inner most without breaking a sweat.
We took turns to drive so we could get some rest and arrived in KL just in time to have something to munch before heading for 'round two'. Over here, other than the fact that the club's layout is different, the music genre and culture remain the same as what we would experience in Singapore.
This time round, we were there a little too early, so the crowd was naturally thinner than expected. But the link between the men inside the MINI and the MINI itself remained strong. Whether it was due to our excitement or just simply our childish disposition to relive our younger days was beyond me. But one thing is for sure. Our ideas can sometimes lead us to do really mad things, or really memorable things. In this case, it was a bit of both.
You don't really need to be a psychic to predict the outcome of this story (no, we did not head back to our hotels with 'extra partners'). Travelling a long way in such a short period of time, the MINI's reputation as a 'hot hatch-energetic-maverick' has preceded itself yet again.
Perhaps there'll be a round three soon. We just hope it will be more mesmerising than this. Maybe that's when I can write another sweet story.
