Back for its second consecutive year, the Singapore Motor Show 2016 sees carmakers rolling out a slew of new models, alongside displaying their current range of cars. With some 30 new cars on display, ranging from high-performance sports cars, luxury sedans to crossover Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) and everything in between, 2016 looks to be an exciting year for car buyers. The Singapore Motor Show takes place from 14th to 17th January 2016, at Suntec City Convention Centre.
Here are some of the highlights of the ongoing Singapore Motor Show that are worth taking a look at:
Audi A4
Audi launched the new A4, more powerful, more efficient and more intelligent than ever. It features a new 1.4-litre TFSI engine that offers 150bhp, and keeping with the brand's right-sizing strategy, is nearly 16 percent more fuel efficient than its predecessor.
The new model is up to 120kg lighter, with its intelligent material mix and lightweight construction. The new A4 also features two new innovations: Audi's virtual cockpit and the MMI control concept system.
At launch, Audi Singapore is offering two variants: the Audi A4 Sedan 1.4 TFSI ($176,800 including COE) and the Audi A4 Sedan design 1.4 TFSI ($186,900 including COE).
Audi R8
Audi previewed the new R8 at the Singapore Motor Show, and it was clearly a big hit with the crowd, with people clammering to get a look at the model specially flown in for the show. Set to be launched in Q2 of 2016, the second generation of Audi's high-performance sports car features a high-revving 610bhp 5.2-litre V10 engine and a newly developed quattro drive to ensure breathtaking driving performance.
Despite extra equipment and greater rigidity, the new Audi R8 weighs up to 50kg less than its predecessor. The multimaterial Audi Space Frame (ASF), with its combination of aluminium and Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP), ensures low weight and optimum axle load distribution.
BMW 7 Series
The Singapore Motor Show marked the public launch of the latest flagship model from BMW. The new 7 Series combines luxurious comfort with advanced technological features to redefine what an exclusive, luxurious driving experience looks like in contemporary, pioneering form.
BMW EfficientLightweight, with a Carbon Core at the centre of the body structure, helps to reduce the weight of the new BMW 7 Series models by up to 130kg. Volkswagen Golf Variant
The new Volkswagen Golf Variant, the estate version of the multi-award winning Golf, made its local debut today. It combines the strong performance and agile handling characteristics of the Golf with a larger boot offering up to 1,620 litres of space.

Range Rover Evoque

Volkswagen Golf Variant
The new Volkswagen Golf Variant, the estate version of the multi-award winning Golf, made its local debut today. It combines the strong performance and agile handling characteristics of the Golf with a larger boot offering up to 1,620 litres of space.
