No one likes to throw money away, even if they have plenty of it. With the sky-high prices of cars in Singapore, it isn't easy sorting out which models provide a relatively good return on your investment.
The choices are indeed mind-boggling, which is why we have put together three different types of cars that we'd love to be seen driving in, with a price cap of $130,000. Needless to say, it is important to note that this is not a list of the least expensive automobiles to purchase.
Nissan Qashqai 1.2 DIG-T
The second generation of Nissan's compact SUV struck us with a strong first impression with its European feel, sleek and sporty styling, and a very luxurious interior.
The Qashqai is also spacious, with decent performance to boot and is fuel efficient at the same time, returning some 12km/L during our time with it. More importantly, it is value packed at a price of $114,800 (as of 6th August 2015), so we don't see why it shouldn't be a compact SUV of choice.
Peugeot 308 1.2 PureTech EAT6 Allure
The Peugeot 308 offers a quiet and roomy interior, a comfortable ride and packs quite a punch with its 1.2-litre turbocharged engine. More importantly, it is fuel efficient - achieving some 13km/L even when pushed to its limits.
While the French hatchback may not be the cheapest car you can buy on this list ($122,900 as of 6th August 2015), it does come with high-quality materials and features that are usually reserved for much more expensive cars and that seals the deal for it.
Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6
Driven hard and yet returning solid fuel efficiency of 11.5km/L, we can't help but be impressed with the Toyota Corolla Altis' lack of thirst for fuel. The car also feels poised and stable even at high speeds, which is a pleasant surprise.
Last but not least, the 11th generation Altis has finally shed its old and boring image and will have no qualms attracting the younger and trendier audience. More so with its attractive price of $119,888 (as of 6th August 2015).
