In a cosy corner of Paya Ubi Industrial Park is a car performance and maintenance workshop named Racing Technik Exhaust Specialist (RTES), otherwise known to regular customers simply as Race Tech.

More than just a fancy name

With words like racing, exhaust and specialist in its name, you know you won't be coming over for just a simple oil change. RTES has been around for almost a decade but Person-in-Charge Mr. Ricky Tan is a veteran with more than 30 years of experience in the motorsport scene.

Ricky himself is an avid car enthusiast and his customers enjoy working with him because he shares a strong love for cars.

To car performance aficionados, RTES is a known and respected name in the ever-burgeoning automotive aftermarket industry. The company specialises in custom exhaust work, from the manifold right down to the tailpipes.

But, that's not the end of it. RTES also does many performance upgrades, from intakes and engine builds to suspension and braking. If you're not into performance and modification, RTES can also service your car as the company does a lot of general repairs and servicing.

Parts, parts and more parts!

Thanks to the many performance upgrades it can do, you can be sure its inventory is stocked to the brim. Bardahl Racing, R.Logic, Hardrace, NGK, Simota and Xtreme are some of the many performance brands RTES brings in.

Now, RTES is also honoured to have K-Sport Racing's suspension and braking products on board. Born over a decade ago, K-Sport specialises in designing and manufacturing high-performance suspension and braking systems. K-Sport's products are widely used in motorsports around the world, in countries such as the U.S.A, the U.K. and Japan.But, having great products isn't enough to satisfy customers. Ricky says his primary concern is understanding his customer's cars, to find out which solutions are most economical, and what sort of performance upgrades are most logical.

Bang-for-buck

Over his many years of experience in this field, Ricky claims many customers are duped by certain workshops into purchasing some 'performance' upgrades, which aren't of sound quality or of much purpose. 

He aims to deliver not just great products and services but also to educate customers on what should or shouldn't be done to a car. Ricky takes it upon himself to inform customers on the legality of their modifications and sometimes refuses jobs due to safety concerns.

During our time spent at RTES, we also spoke to one of Ricky's oldest customers. From what we learnt, RTES, Ricky and his mechanics are a jovial bunch who behave like family and always ensure a job is done properly.
