Infiniti's Director of Performance and quadruple F1 champion, Sebastian Vettel, slipped off his racing overalls and wore something a little more comfortable to tackle the signature high-speed Eau Rouge corner of the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium - behind the wheel of an Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge prototype.
Vettel put the car through its paces as part of a social media powered race against U.S. professional race driver Parker Kligerman and Nine-Ball World Champion snooker player Pan Xiaoting of China. Spa's notoriously fickle weather was true to form with heavy rain dousing the track throughout Vettel's test run in the Q50 Eau Rouge.
Vettel has been involved in the ongoing development of the Q50 Eau Rouge prototype, which was first revealed as a design concept at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit early this year. The base engine inside the Q50 Eau Rouge is a 3.8-litre V6 powerhouse with peak engine power up to 560bhp, with engine torque measured at 600Nm.
Originally a design concept, the Q50 Eau Rouge lives on as a dynamic development vehicle and the decision to take the Q50 Eau Rouge into production is currently under evaluation.
