German automotive mogul, Volkswagen’s pet car the Golf is getting electrified soon. According to online sources, the car will likely be called the E-Golf and schedule for launched in Europe in 2013. It will utilise the MQB platform which is designed to accommodate plug-in hybrid gear in addition to a full-electric drivetrain.
Information is scarce at the moment, but the model is rumoured to be similar to the Golf blue e-motion concept. The electric Golf is expected to go on sale in Europe in 2013, and in the U.S. the following year. The delayed reason for the U.S. release is because it will be based on the seventh-generation Golf.
The standard versions of the new Golf will debut later this year in Europe before hitting the U.S. market next year.
