In the second Certificate of Entitlement bidding round for December, Cat B and Cat E premiums rose while Cat A premiums fell.

    CATPremiumChangeQuotaNo. of bids
    A$40,556▼  $158  9691,403
    B$49,300▲ $4,288 1,0091,631
    C$35,201▲ $2,312 369640
    E$49,500▲ $3,990 471688

In the second round of bidding for December, COE prices fell for Cat A while premiums for Cat B and Cat E saw an increase.

The drop in premiums for Cat A could be due to the announced changes in the VES subsidies starting from next year for less polluting and thus also likely to be smaller and less powerful cars which fall under Cat A, prompting potential buyers to delay their purchases. This can be seen in the drop in bids received for this bidding round, which, at 1,403, is less than the 1,620 bids received in the last bidding session.
